Soft limits are software limits that set a “safe” boundary within which your machine can operate. Soft limits are set by going to Config>Homing/Limits and are based on your machine coordinates. That means you need to home (aka reference) your machine to set up your machine coordinates first. Then, the soft min and max should be set at the positive and negative travel limits for each axis. It is recommended to have this limit set before the physical limit switches (if there are any). Soft limits must be turned on in order to be effective. There is a ‘Soft Limit’ button near the DROs in the 1024.set default screen. It will have a bright green border when soft limits are turned on.
